Lightweight aficionados rejoice! Caterham has announced a new special edition roadster is joining its ever-expanding lineup. Allow us to introduce you to the Caterham Roadsport 125 Monaco. The brushed aluminum bodywork looks resplendent alongside the black nose and fenders. The red and white stripes which run up the nose and across the sides of the car represent the Monegasque flag – the official flag of Monaco. The theme continues into the cabin where the black and red color scheme is designed to represent the roulette wheels accessible throughout Casino Square.

The Caterham Roadsport 125 Monaco is powered by the same engine and transmission combination found in the Lambretta special edition – a 125 horsepower 1.6-liter Ford-sourced four-cylinder paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Since Caterham adheres to Colin Chapman's philosophy of lighter is faster, the 125 hp mill should provide plenty of thrills behind the wheel.

Caterham launches Roadsport 125 Monaco Special Edition

Caterham is ready to release another "entry-level" special edition Seven in order to celebrate the amazing city-state that is Monaco. Called the "Roadsport 125 Monaco", this Seven gets a unique paint scheme representing the Monegasque flag to highlight its aluminum body; also, "Monaco" is pasted down the side if people can't make the connection.

Inside, you'll find black leather with red stitching to complement the exterior. While black and red usually looks good and needs no reason to exist on a car, Caterham says that in this car, it's meant to symbolize "the roulette wheels found in Casino Square".

Power for Caterham's latest seats-on-wheels open fun machine is the basic 1.6 liter Ford Sigma inline-4 with 125 horsepower and 120 lb-ft of torque; the engine's mated to a 5-speed transmission.

Caterham says the mill can push the 500 kg (or 550 kg, if going by the website) car to 112mph (181km/h) and produces "a power-to-weight ratio of 227bhp per tonne", allowing it to complete the zero to 60mph (96km/h) sprint in 5.9 seconds.

The car also supposedly comes with a weather kit that makes it "thoroughly enjoyable in any conditions"; if it's raining, why don't we just take the Rolls instead?

Price of entry into the world of James Bond, F1, and wealth beyond your wildest dreams is £20,995. However, there's a bonus if you know you simply have to have one RIGHT NOW: the first 20 buyers can take another £1,000 off that price.

Build Your Own Car

Build Your Own CarIf you've always wanted to create your own car, but believes it is not possible, then think again. Thousands of people around the world have done and now drive cars that are different from life in vehicles sold from the factory leading manufacturers. Even before the war, people have taken the production cars and used as donors of their own creation.

Both vehicles donors, if I remember was the Austin 7 and the popular Ford. Often, they were very basic constructions, with the chassis, engine and gearbox, suspension and rear axle of the donor, it takes a lot of light, aluminum body in general. Many clubs have been trained to race and rally these cars. One of them is 750 Motor Club still ongoing today.

In the early days it was much easier because there were fewer restrictions on what the technical legal requirements of the checkpoint. My own experience is the United Kingdom, where he is now a requirement to have a vehicle that is not a production model of large-scale use what we call a VAS (vehicle approval) test. Fortunately this is not the same as the reception that major manufacturers need before they can sell their vehicles. No evidence of impact is necessary! However, it is very strict about safety aspects of the car, the driver and other users.
